Airworthiness Directives; Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH (AHD) Helicopters

Official abstract: The FAA proposes to supersede Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2025-13-06, which applies to certain Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH (AHD) Model EC135P1, EC135P2, EC135P2+, EC135P3, EC135T1, EC135T2, EC135T2+, EC135T3, and EC635T2+ helicopters. AD 2025-13-06 requires inspections of the ball pivot, control rod, and yaw actuator assembly and, depending on the results of these inspections, corrective actions. AD 2025-13-06 also prohibits installing an affected part unless it is a serviceable part and certain requirements are met. Since the FAA issued AD 2025-13-06, the manufacturer developed a repetitive inspection of the ball pivot. This proposed AD would retain some of the actions of AD 2025-13-06 and would require repetitive inspection of the ball pivot and, depending on the results of those inspections, corrective actions. This proposed AD would also prohibit installing an affected part unless it is a serviceable part and certain requirements are met. Additionally, this proposed AD would require reporting the results of the inspections. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Establishment, Modification, and Revocation of Class E Airspace; Alaska, AK

Official abstract: This action supplements a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) published by the FAA in the Federal Register on June 17, 2025, which proposed to establish Class E domestic en route airspace (Class E6) within a designated landmass and within 12 miles from a designated shoreline associated with the state of Alaska to facilitate the vectoring of instrument flight rules (IFR) aircraft on direct routes where the current en route structure is insufficient or improper within the proposed airspace areas. As revised in this SNPRM, the FAA now proposes to establish five discrete areas of Class E domestic en route airspace over the state. Due to redundancy, the NPRM also proposed to remove two Class E6 airspace areas and modify 101 Class E airspace areas extending upward from at least 700 feet or more above the surface of the earth (Class E5) to remove any portion extending upward from 1,200 feet above the surface. This SNPRM continues to propose these actions, but also now proposes to remove two Class E airspace areas extending upward from 1,200 feet above the surface, revoke a duplicate Class E5 airspace legal description, and redefine airspace areas from a "Point of Origin" instead of using their respective airport reference points. Finally, both the NPRM and this SNPRM propose administrative amendments to the legal descriptions of 101 Class E5 airspace areas that would correct or update nomenclature as needed. This action would support IFR operations while enhancing the safety and management of aircraft operations within the National Airspace System (NAS).

Airworthiness Directives; Airbus Helicopters

Official abstract: The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus Helicopters Model AS 365 N2, AS 365 N3, EC 155 B, EC 155 B1, SA 365 N, and SA 365 N1 helicopters. This proposed AD was prompted by gaps between the seals and engine cowling, which were found during an investigation related to an engine compartment fire. Gaps between the seals and engine cowling could cause inadequate sealing of the engine compartment firewalls leading to fire propagation between engine compartments and reduced effectiveness of the extinguishing agent. This proposed AD would require modifying the engine compartment firewalls by installing angle-brackets along the firewalls. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
